Nexperia 6120

The NXP UMA platform is based on the Nexperia cellular system solution 6120 which is an ARM9-based GSM/GPRS/EDGE multimedia platform, providing maximum product flexibility and easy differentiation for handset manufacturers. Philips has collaborated with Kineto Wireless who provides the UMA-compliant handset software stack in NXP' Nexperia cellular system solution.

Integrated UMA functionality
The NXP Nexperia cellular system solution 6100 is available in a UMA-enabled version that supports seamless handover to VoIP over WLAN. The UMA-enabled version of the System Solution 6100 adds several features to support UMA operation. There is a WLAN service provider for roaming, association, and scanning, plus a WLAN chipset driver. An integrated RTP offers up- and downlink functionality, there is support for QoS (WMM version 1), and WLAN security features (e.g. WPA, WPA2, and 802.1x). The platform includes certification handling for IPsec and integrates several codecs, including G.711, EFT, FR, and AMR. The system is designed for optimum standby time and power consumption. The battery can function for an estimated 100 hours between charging and offers an estimated 9 hours of talk time (circuit switch) plus two hours of WLAN use (voice and data mix).
Best-in-class WLAN performance
For WLAN functions, the System Solution 6100 uses the BGW211, a low-power 802.11g WLAN System in-Package (SiP). The BGW211 uses advanced process technologies and packaging techniques to integrate the baseband/MAC, radio, power amplifier, and antenna switch into a single package. The BGW211 offers industry-leading standby power consumption, requiring only 2 mW in standby mode for the entire 802.11 system. The architecture places no load on the host processor, supports seamless coexistence with Bluetooth wireless, and offers an Ad-Hoc mode.

State-of-the-art cellular performance
The Nexperia cellular system solution 6100 is an ARM9-based GSM/GPRS/EDGE multimedia platform that provides maximum product flexibility and easy differentiation. It offers guaranteed telecom performance along with integrated messaging, connectivity, and extensive multimedia features. Manufactured in very high volume, this cost-effective solution comes fully GCF/PCRB tested, so OEMs and ODMs can save time while delivering mature, reliable technology. More than 200 million Nexperia-based systems have been brought to market, which makes these platforms some of the most extensively proven designs available.

Furthermore, the solution delivers all the hardware, software validation, support and IOT testing. The UMA-enabled Nexperia Cellular System Solution 6120 is currently available to cellular phone manufacturers worldwide.
